Born and raised in Germany in a Spanish family, studied interpretation in Barcelona and Geneva, and started as a conference interpreter in the EP in 1988 (A: ES, DE C: FR, EN). In management positions since 2004 (Head of the DE booth, then of ACI Recruitment (free-lancers), between 2011 and 2020 Director for Organisation and Planning in DG LINC, between 2020 and January 2025 Director for Regions in DG External Policies of the Union and, since 13 January 2025, Director-General in LINC (Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences) in the EP.

Accreditations and Situation in EU Institutions
The current accreditation procedures, the policies on succession planning and cooperation with universities as well as on-boarding initiatives for young graduates, especially for deficit languages and languages of candidate countries; The way in which new technologies and AI are changing the profession and may do so even more in the future, while stressing AI as a tool at the service of conference interpreters and other professions related to interpreting rather than as a substitute or replacement of human interpreters.
