For simultaneous interpreting longer than half an hour maximum, two interpreters are necessary per booth, taking turns in intervals depending on the complexity and intensity of the work. Interpreting which, including breaks, extends beyond 6 hours is considered overtime engagement.

For consecutive interpreting longer than two hours maximum, two interpreters are necessary, taking turns during the consecutive interpreting. Interpreting which, including breaks, extends beyond 6 hours is considered overtime engagement.

Whole day engagements must include a lunch break; for every one and a half hour to two hours of interpreting a break is needed for the interpreters lasting no less than a quarter of an hour.

Interpreters’ booths must be equipped with lighting needed for reading of documents assisting the interpreters in doing their work, and with water which they need to keep their voices fresh.

The client should, whenever possible, provide in advance all the technical documents which can assist the interpreters in providing quality interpretation.

Interpreters sitting in their booth need to have a direct visual contact with speakers.

Films are not interpreted simultaneously, unless interpreters have received in advance the texts spoken in the film.

Documents read by the speakers and quotations (sections of laws, quotations of well-known works of prose or poetry, etc.) shall not be interpreted unless a copy of such text is provided in advance to the interpreters.

Interpreters’ booths must comply with the relevant ISO standards of the country in which the translation is taking place.

Recording of conference interpreting is subject to agreement granted by the interpreters beforehand. In case of producing of audio recording intended for broadcasting, the fees payable to interpreters are increased by 30%.

In case of cancelling the engagement by the client less than seven days before the event, the interpreters are entitled to receive the full amount of fees, except in cases when they in the meanwhile accept another engagement.

In case of interpreting provided outside the city which is the registered address of the interpreter, which implies travelling, interpreters shall be remunerated for income lost for days when they are, for reasons of travelling, prevented from generating income, in an amount equivalent to half of the agreed daily interpreting fees for the days used for travelling.

If the interpreters are engaged to provide services outside of the place of their registered address, each such engagement shall be calculated as at least one full working day.

If the interpreters are engaged to provide services outside of the place of their registered address, they are entitled, apart from their interpreting fees, to receive per diem allowances in amounts prescribed by the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.

Per diem allowances are not obligatory if all transportation, transfer, accommodation, food and other relevant costs are covered by the employer or a third party.
