The Second International ACIS Conference
The Second International ACIS Conference was held today on the Latest Market Developments and Response of the Profession.
Colleagues from 8 countries of the region gathered in Belgrade to exchange experiences and consider methods for enhancing adherence to the professional and ethical standards and the quality of their work through better mutual and regional cooperation.
The increasingly relevant topic of Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI), during which conference interpreters are not physically present at the event location, occupied a central place in the conference’s discussions. New RSI technologies and platforms were presented, the pros and cons of remote interpretation were discussed, as well as the setting of standards that ensure high quality of interpretation. Keynote speakers: Uroš Peterc, President of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), Sally Bailey-Ravet, Head of Department and Head Interpreter, Council of Europe, and a member of the ACIS Advisory Board, as well as Haris Ghinos,Chairperson of the AIIC Working Group for the Development of New International Conference Interpreting Professional Standards and a member of the ACIS Advisory Board.
